Kevin Durant has not played since injury his lower leg in game 5 of the Western Conference Semifinals against the Houston Rockets. He pulled up after running down county after hitting a jumper.
The initial look was that is was more severe, along the lines of an Achilles injury, but a collective sigh of relief was breathed when it was revealed that it was merely a strain of his right calf.
Durant was ruled out for Game 1 of the NBA Finals, but he would travel with the club, giving a sliver of hope that he could play in Game 2. That sliver of hope has now been largely extinguished, as head head coach Steve Kerr said it would be “a longshot for KD to get cleared for practice before Game 2.”
Though the Warriors have won every Durant-less game they have played since his injury, the thought they are better without him is absurd. It matters not how “pretty” you think their style of play may be, getting back Durant and the 34.2 ppg he has been averaging in these playoffs make your team better.
